According to The Hollywood Reporter, American TV network The CW is planning a new show that they're billing as a Shakespeare/Game Of Thrones mashup. With added witches.
Carrying the working title Shakespeare's Sisters, the show is set in London in the 1590s, and follows a nascent Bard as he is caught up in a conflict between three witches and the reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth I.
NCIS star Mark Harmon has been drafted in to develop the show, while Scott Sullivan (NCIS: Los Angeles, King & Maxwell) will write the script.
The CW has been encouraged by the recent success of Reign, a series which tells the backstory of Mary Queen of Scots. The pilot for that show, which is now in its second season, was directed by Brad Silberling, who will be an executive producer and director on Shakespeare's Sisters.
