Werner Herzog's career is nothing if not unpredictable. Not many people can go from directing a Nicolas Cage movie (Bad Liuetenant) to a 3D documentary about a cave (Cave Of Forgotten Dreams) to providing a voice in The Simpsons to a documentary about death row (Into The Abyss) to starring as a villain in the next Tom Cruise movie.
Just to ensure he sustains this variety, it's been announced that Herzog's next project will be the much-acclaimed DBC Pierre novel Vernon God Little. The darkly comic Booker Prize winner revolves around a high schooler who is accused of being an accomplice in a shooting so runs away to Mexico.
The satire has been adapted into a play before but this new version is scripted by Andrew Birkin, who has previously wrote the screenplays for Perfume and The Name Of The Rose.
Herzog will next be seen menacing Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher.
