Not that we’ve ever found ourselves in a stolen car on a gridlocked highway in China’s Guangdong Province being tailed by officers of the law, but if we did, we’d like to think that we might recognise when the game was up, calmly get out of the car and get ready to spend some time in chokey.
So, respect – or whatever the kids say these days – is most definitely due to this lunatic, who on finding himself in such a situation refuses to believe he can’t make a heroic getaway.
Not that we’re condoning his actions – the man is clearly short of common decency – but we do admire his pluck and verve. And maybe we’re feeling slightly blasé because we know no one was hurt during his outlandish display and that he was eventually caught.
