Allow us to gaze into our murky crystal ball and make a prediction. At some point over the Christmas period you'll slump on the sofa, eat your weight in Celebrations and watch The Great Escape. Spooky, eh?
This year's viewing of the festive favourite will be more poignant than most though, because this month it's 30 years since the film's star Steve McQueen passed away.
To mark the occasion Steve's widow and biographer have raided the attic to compile a terrific photographic memoir. Made up of rare pictures and anecdotal accounts of Steve's life, it's a fitting tribute to the talented actor and racer who became a byword for cinematic cool.
Can't wait until the book's released? Well you're in luck because we've snagged a batch of exclusive snaps to pay our own respects to an utter legend. The pictures are above, hope you enjoy them.
Steve McQueen: A Tribute To The King Of Cool is published on 7 November and available from daltonwatson.com. A special McQueen photo exhibition takes place at London’s Movie Poster Gallery until November 18, info at mpag.co.uk

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
