Turns out cheese is as addictive as drugs

Imagine a world without cheese.

Pizza would basically just be bread and ketchup, and where would the joy be in that?

According to science, the reason why you can smash through an unnatural amount of cheese on an 18" is because cheese is as addictive as morphine.

Dr Neal Barnard, founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, has dubbed the stuff 'dairy crack'. Which is obviously how we’re going to refer to it from now on.

Dr Barnard claims that your brain reacts to the casein (which is a protein) in cheese as your body breaks it down.

However, it doesn't do this very thoroughly, and the protein gets broken down into smaller 'casomorphins'.

And that means, according to Dr Bernard:

These protein fragments can attach to the opiate receptors in your brain. As the name implies, casomorphins are casein-derived morphine-like compounds.

Which means your noggin reacts to dairy crack in a similar way to real crack.

Thankfully though, it doesn’t have the brain-destroying compound that drugs like morphine do. So you can rack up two slices to ten without worry about having to start your own private pharmacy.

Still, cheesy does it on the double up toppings.
