Here’s some news that may bowl fans of a certain film over: Lebowski Fest is headed to London’s Brooklyn Bowl.
For the first time since 2009, the great and the good of Dudeism will descend on London for the annual event on Friday 25 September, sure to be a night to remember as attendees once again raise a glass to the Coen Brothers’ comedy The Big Lebowski.
And it couldn’t be happening at a more apt venue. With twelve bowling lanes, three bars, eleven screens and a huge dancefloor, expect unlimited ball-hitting-pins action, a ceaseless supply of white Russians, general revelry, and naturally a big screen dose of the 1998 classic as the action takes place under the 02 dome in North Greenwich.
Special guests will be announced nearer the time, and considering previous events have welcomed Jeff Bridges, Julian Moore, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and John Turturro, you never know who might turn up.
The fans, also known as “Achievers”, first gathered en masse in Louisville, Kentucky in October 2002, and have since spead to over 30 different cities including New York, Seattle, Austin, Chicago, Milwaukee, along with overseas jaunts such as Edinburgh and London - which have seen devoted US fans make the pilgrimage across the pond.
Keep an eye on Brooklynbowl.com/london for more details. We’ve a feeling someone at the venue might want to start stocking up the Kahlua.
