This World Record Basketball Shot Is Absolutely Insane

This World Record Basketball Shot Is Absolutely Insane

This World Record Basketball Shot Is Absolutely Insane

There are two stories here.

One is about the unlikely new record from the chaps of YouTube sensation How Ridiculous - a group of sports-loving trick-shotters who throw things into stuff over massive distances to help eradicate child poverty. Their new record has seen them successfully net a basketball shot from a distance (or height) of 126.5 metres, "throwing" a ball from the top of the Gordon Dam in Tasmania, Australia, into a hoop below.

The second story is about the tedious, essential job of the team at the bottom of the dam whose job it was to collect the basketballs of failed shots and avoid being struck themselves. If you pause the footage, you can clearly see a stack of collected basketballs, with numerous more scattered amongst the foliage. And basketballs bounce - just think of the potential ricochet after a fall of 126.5m. It could have your eye out. Probably.

Clearly, our headline has led with the former story - but don't forget about the crucial work of the ball collectors who don't get any of the glory. Proceed to marvel at both spectacles in the following video.
