Blame it on American Beauty. Ever since Sam Mendes' acerbic drama won Oscars for its portrayal of a dysfunctional family, we've seen weaker attempts coming at us thick and fast.
But the subgenre still has ample room for entertainment and it looks like we might have a winner with this one.
A starry cast, including Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver and Rose Byrne, centre a story about siblings brought together after the death of a patriarch.
The trailer had just dropped and while it's looking less like Oscar fare and more like something more popcorn-y, it still seems like fun will be had. Unless you watch it with your family and then long, probing conversations will be had instead.
