The YMC store

Cult fashion brand expands...

The YMC store

Fifteen years ago, the distinctive fashion label YMC was born in London's East End and now, as a fitting birthday gift (to us), it's making a grand return.

Launching a second standalone store near the style-conscious Brick Lane, YMC promises to offer customers a shopping experience they probably won't be getting on the high street.

The design of the store is heavily influenced by Victorian times with most of the fixtures and fittings boasting a vintage heritage. You'll be able to spot a fully-functioning 1920s till, authentic post-war prosthetic limbs (for displaying shoes and accessories of course) and a double-faced station clock which is an original timepiece from nearby Old Street station in the 30s.

There will also be clothes too. YMC promise that their clothes aren't influenced by seasonal trends and instead offer up something slightly different yet practical.

You can find out more about their clothing here and the store will be open at 23 Hanbury Street this week.

Content Director

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
