The world's most expensive photo

Published

If we were paying seven figures for a photograph, there's a few things we'd insist upon.

It would have to come with a free house, a 24/7 assistant and a genie that could grant us unlimited wishes. Now, we haven't seen this one up close but we're guessing it comes with none of the above.

The Andreas Gursky photograph, entitled Rhein II, has just sold at Christie's for $4.3 million (£2.7 million). This now makes it the world's most expensive photo.

The previous record-holder (sold for £2.4 million) can be seen here. Now, drop whatever you're doing (unless you're holding a baby) and start taking as many pictures as you can.
