If you're looking for honest, freshly baked food then a vending machine is probably the last place you'd look.
A haven for guilty, airport-dwelling folk, it provides snacks that are intended to fill a hole, no questions asked.
Over in Argentina, crisp makers Lay's are so keen to show everyone that they're not like all those other brands that they've launched this "honest" vending machine. They want to prove that a packet of their crisps contains nothing more than real potatoes, vegetable oil and a "pinch" of salt.
To activate the machine, you insert a potato and then watch the progress as it gets washed, peeled, cut, cooked, salted and then placed into a packet which you then receive at the bottom.
Okay, so it's actually just a video screen that imitates the process but, still, it gives you an idea of what might take place. Plus, it gives you solid entertainment and a bag of crisps only costs a potato. We're sold.
