Remember how you contacted people before Facebook? We have vague recollections of doing something that required opening and shutting our mouths and making a noise, but other than that we're drawing a blank. Luckily, there's a new contraption on the block to help us stay connected.
The new smartphone watch (pictured) lets you take phone calls, check Twitter and Facebook feeds and receive text messages all on a 1.5in touchscreen.
Italian creators Blue Sky have even created an Apple-style marketplace for users to download apps and music to the watch's four gigabyte hard drive.
The 'i'mWatch' is set to go one sale next year at a sum of £213 and is available in seven different colours. But if you want to splash out, there is also the 'Jewel' version, which costs from £10,286.
Powered by the Android operating system, the watch uses Bluetooth to link up to users' smartphones, relaying phone calls, messages and notifications to the device. It can also be used to 'piggyback' on the phone's Wi-Fi to gain access to its Internet connection. And unlike most battery-guzzling smartphones, it is claimed that the i'mWatch can last for up to two days between charges.
Company directors Manuel Zanella, 34, and Massimiliano Bertolini, 31, say that they have already taken 5,000 pre-orders for the watches.
Mr Zanella said: "We are amazed at the number of online pre-orders received and that we continue to receive day after day for i'mWatch".
