The Simpsons just got dark. Really dark.

The latest ‘remix’ from Vulture, this edit shows the famous yellow family’s patriarch enduring a similar trial by media to Steven Avery, the controversial subject of Netflix crime doc Making a Murderer.

Given the sheer wealth of footage and characters from the cartoon at the editing team’s disposal, it should be no surprise at how well the worlds of Springfield and Manitowoc County collide - but using Homer as the man possibly framed or possibly guilty really is a master stroke.

Let's hope the people of Springfield see sense and write a petition to President Schwarzenegger to free our man.
