Who? Man Made
What’s the story? There's clearly something in the genes in the Marr family. Man Made are a Manchester-based trio which feature the amazingly-named Nile Marr, son of Johnny, as their frontman, alongside drummer Scott Griffiths and bassist Callum Rodgers (if Scott ever leaves, it handily gives them the option to rebrand as 'Nile Rodgers'). After paying their dues touring, writing and honing their craft, they're preparing to release their debut album TV Broke My Brain (out tomorrow), and we're delighted to be premiering the track Hi Tech Low Life, which is taken from it. It's a glorious piece of uplifting, foot-stomping indie that brings in influences from all over - from early Stone Roses, via mid-era R.E.M. and even a touch of the Goo Goo Dolls' impeccable sense of melody. Put this on, turn it up and inject some sunshine into your day.
For fans of: R.E.M., The La's
In three words: Melodic sunshine indie
