Who? Lissie
What’s the story? With the constant music media focus on youth, it's sometimes good to be reminded that, like a fine wine, most artists actually get better as they get older and a little more world-weary. Illinois-born artist Lissie has just announced her third album, My Wild West, due next February, and the first cut from it, Hero, is a gloriously wistful, desolate country rock song, bringing to mind the work of Band of Horses (no surprise given it's produced by their studio man Bill Reynolds) and Jenny Lewis - another who has become better as she's gone along. There's an effortless feel to it, a gentle dynamic and some cracking sad horns. What more could you want?
For fans of: Jenny Lewis, Lana Del Rey, Band of Horses
In three words: Desolate country tale
