Who?COLOUR
What’s the story? Three albums in with Holy Fire, Foals finally found the secret to moving up to festival headliner status from their previous niche placement: not being afraid of big riffing, not being afraid of melodies, and not being afraid to have a more widescreen sound. Now COLOUR, a new band made up of members all across the North, seem to have worked this out before even releasing one. Having been named as BBC Introducing's Band of the Year in 2014, they've been busy making new tunes and building a fanbase with sold out live shows, with Red one of the first of the new clutch of songs to emerge. The chiming arpeggios of Foals are present and correct, but there's a touch of the epic moments of Coldplay's Johnny Buckland about the guitar playing too. If they can chuck in a Yellow and an Inhaler in the near future, they could well be huge.
For fans of: Foals, Coldplay, Everything Everything
In three words: Widescreen chiming indie
