The ShortListen: Clock Opera (no. 196)

Welcome return from the indie/electro three piece

The ShortListen: Clock Opera (no. 196)
10 November 2015

Who? Clock Opera

What’s the story? It seems like an age since Clock Opera were around - their debut album was released in 2012 after years of producing great remixes for other artists as well as their own tracks. It's good to have them back, and this track - the first from their forthcoming new album and which can be downloaded for free here - eases them in gently, beginning with a sinister bell-tower sample which builds and builds to a dizzying conclusion while vocalist Guy Connelly employs his falsetto to excellent effect. This is nicely unsettling, yet powerful, getting better with every listen. A subtle and welcome return.

For fans of: Maccabees, LCD Soundsystem, Wild Beats

In three words: Sinister electro grower
