The New Ghostbusters Cast's Funniest Moments

The New Ghostbusters Cast's Funniest Moments

The New Ghostbusters Cast's Funniest Moments
28 January 2015

Meninists beware, the new Ghostbusters cast has been confirmed and, as promised, it's all female. While this might upset the traditionalists, it promises to be a refreshing change of direction and one which can work better without the shadow of the original looming too closely.

It also helps that the four actresses picked for the roles are all really really really funny. There are two current Saturday Night Live cast members in Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, one ex-star Kristen Wiig and the most bankable female comedy star in Hollywood, Melissa McCarthy.

In case you're still on the fence, we've assembled their funniest moments below to bust away any unfair scepticism you might have.

Kristen Wiig

The airplane scene in Bridesmaids

Most scenes involving Kristen Wiig in her Magum Opus Bridesmaids are worthy of inclusion her but it's her airplane meltdown that showed just what a fine comedienne she is.

Surprise Party on SNL

Wiig was one of the more reliable and most-loved SNL cast members of recent years and she provided a series of hilarious characters, all linked by her fearless ability to do anything for a laugh. This classic sketch, where she plays a woman crippled with excitement for a surprise party, was one of her best.

Presenting with Will Ferrell at the Golden Globes

Wiig's comedic skills have also extended to her awards-presenting turns at a number of ceremonies, including this incredibly well-performed skit with Will Ferrell where they both feign ignorance of the films nominated.

Melissa McCarthy

Her introduction in Bridesmaids

While some of her more recent output might have overplayed the same joke a little too much (see Identity Thief and Tammy), Melissa McCarthy's Oscar-nominated performance in Bridesmaids was so brilliantly strange, as exemplified in this scene.

Outside the Lines on SNL

McCarthy has been a consistent guest on Saturday Night Live and this was arguably her finest moment, as she played tyrannical basketball coach Sheila Kelly.

Kate McKinnon

Justin Bieber's Calvin Klein ad on SNL

One of Kate McKinnon's funniest recurring characters on Saturday Night Live is her pitch perfect impression of Justin Bieber, which peaked recently in this brilliant spoof of his recent Calvin Klein campaign.

Jesus Fixer Cecilia Gimenez on SNL

Another hilarious impression came during Weekend Update on SNL when McKinnon played the notorious fresco restorer who was desperate for money.

Leslie Jones

Back Home Ballers on SNL

One of the more recent additions to Saturday Night Live, Leslie Jones is still finding her feet. But she effortlessly stole this sketch which sees a girl group rap about being treated like princesses when they go home for Thanksgiving.

Ghost Chasers on SNL

Another SNL highlight saw Jones in a parody of ghost-hunting shows where she plays an easily scared sceptic.
