A new show has finally overtaken 'The Big Bang Theory' in the ratings

Probs best not to get me started on The Big Bang Theory because we’ll be here all day and you lot will have trains and buses to catch. In short: I believe it to be the worst television programme currently on the airwaves and I would rather watch, in slow-motion, a dog pat fly through the air and land in my screaming mouth. It’s the pits, and I hate it.
One of the myriad reasons that I hate it is because it’s so popular, and when I say “so”, I mean “with the strength of a thousand suns” - this is a ratings juggernaut the likes of which the world has never seen. And it’s shit. I can’t get my head round the fact that something so popular can simultaneously be so demonstrably bad. At least the ‘90s equivalent, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, could be actually funny in parts - this, on the hand, is unforgivable.
But I am not to fret, I am not to twist my knickers, I am instead to return to room temperature, for today I received the news that it is no longer the most popular show on US television. Finally, something has come along and stuck a boot right up its bazinga or whatever the hell it’s called, and knocked it from the top spot. Rejoice!
And what is that show?
It’s Young Sheldon!
Only joking - if that was the case I’d have staved my head in on the nearest corner wall in this office. The show in question is actually: The Good Doctor.
Eh? Yeah, I’ll forgive you for not knowing what that is, because I don’t, and I know everything. What it is, in fact, is a show starring Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel) as a young autistic surgeon who finds it hard to connect with the people around him, yet still has to show compassion when saving lives. The programme, created by House’s David Shore, has become the most-watched show on US telly, with a total of 18.2 million viewers.
Saying that, it’s only got 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, which officially makes it rotten, but then again, Bio-Dome only has 5% and I will watch that over most movies, so what do they know? I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. Anything to give Big Bang a nudge in the ribs.
