Synth fans get excited

The Stranger Things soundtrack is being released tomorrow

If there's one show that people really can't get enough of at the moment, it's the latest Netflix smash Stranger Things.

And as well as its captivating storyline and performances, its been a success in part due to its outstanding soundtrack, which features a host of Eighties synth classics alongside original music by Austin synth quartet S U R V I V E.

While Netflix has already compiled a playlist of the 'released' tracks (below), the additional music hasn't been available to listen to - until now.

Now Lakeshore Records will released the Stranger Things Soundtrack in two parts. Volume One will be out digitally tomorrow (12 August) and on CD on 16 September. Volume Two will arrive in a week's time (19 August) and on CD on 23 September.

Bandmember Kyle Dixon said in a statement, “The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show.”

Bandmate Michael Stein added, “We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn't Eighties cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach.”

S U R V I V E formed back in 2009 and have already released one album and numerous EPs and singles, but their work for Stranger Things is undoubtedly going to launch them towards a bigger audience; and unsurprisingly they're planning to utilise this by releasing their second full-length - entitled RR7348 - on 30 September.
