There are plenty of reasons to be excited about The Monuments Men.
First, let's take the cast, deep breath: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Jean Dujardin. Not too shabby.
Secondly, let's take the directior: step forward, Mr Clooney. After impressing with Good Night and Good Luck and The Ides of March, it's looking like another doozy to add to his directorial CV. Yes, we're deliberately choosing not to mention Leatherheads. Damn it.
Thirdly, let's take the plot: a group of soldiers aim to protect artwork from Hitler during WW2. It's based on an acclaimed book and scripted by Clooney and Grant Heslov.
And fourth, well take a look at the trailer. We don't need a fourth reason.
The Monuments Men hits cinemas January 9 2014

He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
