Any Welsh fans still smarting from Friday's defeat just remember: it could always be worse.

A match in the top division of the Belgian rugby league finished 356-3, a massacre on a scale not seen before on a rugby pitch, with the victors Royal Kituro scoring more than four points a minute on average against their hapless opponents Soignies.

The referee for the match was over an hour late for the scheduled kick-off at Royal Kituro's ground, by which time the Soignies team coach and most of their players had left, assuming that the game had been cancelled.

However, the game still went ahead, with the remaining 16 Soignies players appearing to not compete in protest at the decision, allowing their opponents to run through unchallenged and score an incredible 56 tries, converting 38 of them. Nonetheless, they still gained more than they would have done had they forfeited the game, as they were awarded a 'loser's point' which rewards teams for turning up.

Despite the almighty hammering, Soignies are still above Royal Kituro in the league by one point; although if they end up level, there's only going to be one winner, with their points difference currently standing at -264.

All we're wondering is, how on earth did Kituro allow them to score a drop-goal, and what happened to the 18 missed conversions? Get back out on that training pitch lads.
