It's been a big week for nostalgic remake news. With word that Police Academy 2.0 is happening and that Gremlins is being fast-tracked, we now have a casting update for Point Break.
Currently on bad guy duty in Noah, Ray Winstone has just signed on to play an FBI agent in the remake of Kathryn Bigelow's cult 1991 action movie. He'll be taking on the character of Angelo Pappas, played by Gary Busey in the original.
He'll be starring alongside Gerard Butler and Luke Bracey, already cast as the main duo previously played by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. The film will take the same characters and dynamic as the first but make a few tweaks, including more extreme sports, other than surfing.
It's being directed by Ericson Core, best known for Invincible, that Mark Wahlberg film you haven't seen.
Winstone will next be seen in a drama called Zipper, where he plays a character called Coaker (really), and then opposite Sean Penn and Idris Elba in The Gunman.
