Thanks to the continued success of True Blood, The Walking Dead and newbie American Horror Story, it's never been a better time to be involved in a horror-themed TV show.
Later this year, we'll be seeing how well Hannibal Lector works on the small screen and it's just been announced that Norman Bates will be following him soon after.
Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse has been hired to exec-produce a new show called Bates Motel which will focus on the "formative years of Norman Bates, [his] relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit." Although it's a prequel it will take place in the present day.
"Viewers will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first-hand how Norma helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all," the press release also revealed.
It's been green-lit by US cable network A&E and will premiere in 2013.
