This year's nominees in pocket-sized form

Oscar films in Lego

For those of you (and us) who thought that Lego had been resigned to our youth, along with VHS tapes, He-Man and the Chuckle Brothers, yet another example arrives to show us that we haven't seen the last of it.

After the recent Lego Mad Men, we now have this year's ten Best Picture nominees and winners all recreated with those familiar little yellow people.

From the mind-bending corridor fight in Inception (1) to the pained expression of a monarch unable to get the words out in The King's Speech (4), these lovingly crafted scenes come from the mind of Alex Eylar, a disturbingly talented 21-year-old from California.

You can also see scenes from The Fighter (2), 127 Hours (3), True Grit (5), Black Swan (6), Toy Story 3 (7), The Social Network (8) and The Kids Are Alright (9).

Who knew that Lego people had so many expressions?

You can also see more of Alex's work here.
