After the initial teaser and then the Super Bowl spot hit, we were already finding our rabid drooling and nonsensical jabbering a little bit too hard to contain, but now after this new trailer has landed, we're pretty much fitting.
The 70s-set film, directed by Lost/Cloverfield/Star Trek wizard JJ Abrams, follows a bunch of kids as they investigate a possible alien invasion in their small town.
Unlike the trailers we've seen for most of this summer's big-hitters, this one relies less on aggressive CGI and pounding, hide your bleeding ears noise and more on an old-school feeling of wonder and genuine excitement. It's no great surprise then that it's also produced by Steven Spielberg.
If the eventual film is even remotely as good as this trailer then our poor, over-excited little minds might not be able to cope. Fingers crossed though.
The film is out on August 19th. Boo hiss to that.

He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
