We weren't sure how the rebooted Planet of the Apes series was going to follow 2011's rather brilliant Rise. Thankfully, if this latest trailer is anything to go by, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes certainly isn't monkeying around.
Set a decade after the events of Rise, Caesar (Andy Serkis) leads the growing band of genetically evolved apes in the journey to understanding their newly discovered intelligence. When this fledgling nation is threatened by a band of humans, they strike up a fragile peace around a common goal: survival. We've a hunch that the truce doesn't last the entire film.
With a cast featuring Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, Dawn looks to focus on the threatening monkey contingent far more than the previous instalment. You can set aside your fears of a dodgy-looking CGI slog though - the apes manage to look even more realistic than they did first time round.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set for release 17 July
