While the thought of replacing Matt Damon as the lead in the Bourne series originally seemed like utter sacrilege, our minds were soon changed once we saw what Jeremy Renner had planned in the most recent trailer.
As Aaron Cross, the star of The Avengers takes centre-stage as another CIA operative who is part of an initiative that follows the Treadstone operation which spawned Jason Bourne. The events in the film will run simultaneously to the previous Bournes and some scenes will crossover.
Because of this, producer Frank Marshall hopes to get the two super-spies together for the next instalment.
"You see there are several different [programs] in the movie with different skill sets," he shared with Empire. "All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."
Given the direction of the new film, it's certainly possible but would you like to see Matt Damon make a comeback?
The Bourne Legacy hits cinemas on August 13th
