When you’re warned by TV shows or games to ‘not try this at home’ usually everyone follows the advice because, well, you’d be a bit of an idiot not to.
Well, an inventor named Colin Furze didn’t follow this advice and that’s because he’s a bit of a genius.
As part of a promo for Ubisoft, the inventor built an actual real life rope launcher gauntlet like the one in Assassin’s Creed. It uses a carbon dioxide canister to propel the line, and a motorized winch to hoist you up.
And it really works – albeit with the help of a harness because without it your arm would almost certainly be ripped from its socket which would make fights with mysterious clandestine organisations a lot harder.
Oh, and he’s also built the hidden blade as well, in case you need to slash anyone to ribbons.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
