Leftfield Back With New Album And Tour

Prepare yourselves for some floor-shaking bass: the dark lords of the dancefloor Leftfield have announced their first new album in 16 years.

Responsible for one of the greatest dance records of all time - that bring 1995's Leftism - they've announced the release of Alternative Light Source for June 8, their first album since 1999's follow-up Rhythm & Stealth.

They've already unveiled a track from it in the form of the seven minute monster banger Universal Everything, which you can listen to below - and if that weren't enough, there's a UK tour (well, four dates, more of a stroll, really) on the way too. Originally a duo of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, it's now just Barnes on his own; from the sound of this track though, it's not proving to be too much of a problem.

Alternative Light Source will feature collaborations with Channy Leaneagh of Poliça, Ofei, TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe and Sleaford Mods. We wouldn't be surprised to see fan favourite Cheshire Cat pop up either.

Back in their heyday, Leftfield were a notoriously loud live act, with their soundman once threatened with arrest in Holland due to the volume, and one show at Brixton Academy boasting bass so loud that plaster started coming down from the ceiling.

Check out the dates below - tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday March 27) morning at 9am - and reacquaint yourselves with a few classics below that.

Thu June 11 2015 - Bristol O2 Academy Bristol

Fri June 12 2015 - London Forum

Thu June 18 2015 - Manchester Albert Hall
