Already inhaled season two of Netflix’s House Of Cards? Fear not - after his devious turn as sage US Senator Frank Underwood, Kevin Spacey is now slated to play another politician with gift of the gab: Winston Churchill.
Written by Ben Kaplan, the man behind a raft of big budget war documentaries for The History Channel, Captain Of The Gate will chart Churchill’s rise to power during the Second World War.
Excitingly, with an Oscar-winning lead man on board and reported $20m budget for producers Sierra/Affinity to toy with, this could be a biopic to remember. Or, at the very least, an attempt to win over any Americans who thought Christian Slater-starring comedy Churchill: The Hollywood Years was based on a true story.
Given the size of the shoes Spacey's about to fill, we presume he's eating his body weight in carbs already. Method.
