Kanye West explains why he supported Donald Trump for president

“I told you I didn’t vote. But if I voted, I would have voted on Trump.”

Kanye West explains why he supported Donald Trump for president

Kanye West has said some incredibly weird stuff before: being able to see music, saying that the greatest pain in life is that he’ll never see himself live, calling himself God’s vessel. But a new onstage antic could top them all, as he said he would’ve voted for Trump in the recent election at a live show in San Jose, which was met by a sea of boos.

“I told you I didn’t vote...but if I voted, I would have voted on Trump,” he told a shocked crowd in a 40 minute political rant (an extract of which is captured in the video below), which was also met by a few projectile shoes (presumably not Yeezys, because that shit is expensive).

He also went on to reveal that he wanted to publicly support Trump during his election campaign, but was advised not to, saying “I wanted to say that before the election, but they told me, ‘Whatever you do don’t say that aloud’”.

“Not only did I not vote, but there were a lot of things I actually liked about Trump’s campaign,” he rambled. “His approach was f****** genius – because it worked.”

It’s not clear why West didn’t vote in the US Presidential election. It is suggested that he was busy ripping holes in expensive beige clothing and flogging them to fans in severe debt, but this has yet to be confirmed.

It’s also been rumoured that Kanye will run for presidency in 2020, something that was also hinted at in his support of Trump: ““Rappers are philosophers of our now, celebrities are the influencers of our now, just look at the president, he wasn't in politics and won.”
