But that's exactly what David Duchovy, Gillian Anderson and writer Chris Carter are doing, as the much-loved sci-fi series The X Files returns to our screens later this month.
However, self-confessed superfan and US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel decided to get Agents Mulder and Scully to reunite a little earlier than scheduled, with this superb sketch taking a look at just how well the duo would cope, having been out of action since the nineties. Suffice to say, there's been a few technical developments since then.

The new six-episode miniseries premieres on Fox in the US on Sunday 24 January; we're sure it'll be out of this world.
