Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
The visuals are bold. The voiceover is booming. And the polite host? He’s been given a pony on which he can fight crime – and that’s when he’s not nursing a small baby and a raft of multinational children, which presumably will fit into the show after wryly setting the world to rights as he did so well last time around.
Okay, so it’s just a gag, with Oliver playing it all down in the most British way possible, claiming it’ll be really more “Season 2 - more of basically the same” when the next series lands on 8 February on HBO in the US and a few days later on Sky Atlantic over here.
