High concept clock designs

We're pretty sure we know where we stand with the average clock. The big hand does the minutes, the little one does the hours and the thin quick one seems to slow down every Friday. Daniel Weil is apparently bored with this general consensus though.

When he's not making exhibits for international events like the 2012 London Games, or pencilling another piece of magic for the Pentagram design studio, the Argentinian designer is usually found making mind-bending clocks.

This most recent collection of timepieces explores the relationship between a clock's movement and its power source, breaking down the conventional arrangement of keeping the mechanical heart of a clock behind the face. The wires of each clock connect the quartz movement to a battery that's been elaborately relocated.

Set to go on display at London's Design Museum from tomorrow, the clocks will feature as part of an exhibit reviewing Weil's 30 year career in the design industry.
