Want another reason why you should be kneeling down in front of the TV and thanking God you’ve got broadband? Beasts of No Nation, debuting on Netflix on 16 October.
Written and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Sin Nombre, True Detective), the unflinching drama sees Idris Elba playing a warlord in the midst of a West African civil war, and newcomer Abraham Attah as a displaced young boy who reluctantly joins his maniacal band of blood-thirsty mercenaries.
Vengeance. Fear. Mortality. As the child struggles to deal with all the horrors he has seen at home and on the battlefield, Elba’s warped chief uses all these emotions and more to mould the young pup into a seasoned, callous warrior. But how corrupted does he become and is there any hope for him?
For this heart-pounding first teaser we see the rookie given the chance to kill a hostage following an ambush, causing a real crisis of conscience. Check the clip out below.
October can’t come quick enough.
