One of cinema’s most iconic madmen – hockey-masked nutcase Jason Voorhees - is renewing his killing spree, but this time for the pleasure of the small screen.
Crystal Lake Entertainment have secured a deal to create a drama series based on the iconic characters and premises of the original 1980 movie, whose director Sean S Cunningham has also come on board as executive producer, saying this: “Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide."
Quite how the writers are going to eek out a whole series of gore-heavy narratives with just Jason as the protagonist and Camp Crystal Lake as the backdrop remains to be seen. Let’s hope they don’t slit the throat of a classic.
