We use roughly 10 percent of our brain capacity. About eight if we've not had any coffee. Think how different life would be if we bumped things up to 20 percent - or even 50. We'd probably be able to remember our entire family's birthdays.
That's the premise for sci-fi action romp Lucy. Penned and directed by Luc Besson (The Transporter, Taken), Scarlett Johansson stars as the titular drug mule-turned-superhuman. After a mysterious cargo of drugs is stitched into her chest against her will, Lucy's fate takes an even stranger turn when one of the packages splits and unlocks a raft of supernatural abilities. As she begins to unlock hitherto dormant regions of her brain, she gains new intellectual, temporal and even telekinetic powers.
With a cast including Analeigh Tipton and Morgan Freeman (playing yet another "science guy who warns people about things they can't comprehend"), Lucy looks like takes some familiar sci-fi tropes to interesting, violent places. Check out the trailer for a taste of the action.
Lucy arrives in UK cinemas on 22 August
