Given his deerstalker-clad credentials as Baker Street’s favourite sleuth, it’s hard to look past Benedict Cumberbatch when casting a famed codebreaker.
There’s a whole lot more to The Imitation Game, starring Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, the cryptanalyst whose work helped win the allies the Second World War, than puzzles, however. To see just how much, check the dramatic new trailer for the film below.
Also featuring Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear and Charles Dance, it boasts a heavyweight home-grown cast and, for another sign why it might just be A-grade awards bait, it'll also be opening this year’s BFI London Film Festival on 8 October.

The Imitation Game is in cinemas from 14 November
