He's already got one on the mantelpiece, but we wouldn't bet against Eddie Redmayne giving his Best Actor statuette a new friend pretty soon.
The first trailer has been released for The Danish Girl, which sees Redmayne - who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything - take on another challenging part: this time of transgender pioneer Einar Wegener. He's joined by Alicia Vikander as his wife Gerda, with Tom Hooper (The King's Speech, Les Miserables) in the director's chair.
Wegener was a Danish-born artist who was one of the first people known to undergo sex reassignment surgery in the 1930s. It's clearly a role requiring some nuanced acting and on the evidence of this impressive trailer, Redmayne looks to have just the sensitivity to handle it. Take a look and see what you think.
The Danish Girl is in cinemas 1 January 2016
