But George Lucas' woeful showing has left Star Wars fans in an perilous mood: get it wrong, and no creative name will survive the backlash.
Which is why the house of mouse is doing its utmost to ground the new franchise in the roots of the original trilogy - producing retro gems like the following promotional posters, all of which take their cue from works of 1977.
Here's hoping the creative efforts of J J Abrams take a similar route.
