Deadpool is the wisecracking superhero alter-ego of Wade Winston Wilson. He's a character about to be properly immortalised on celluloid by Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming movie of the same name.
A character as well known for his bloody sword wielding antics as he is for breaking the fourth wall and adding a shred of humour often missed in superhero stories, but not one well known for his role as the type of hunky romantic all men should aspire to be.
Not that this has stopped the Marvel marketing team from trying to make him look like a bona fide rom-com slush-star in time for Valentine’s Day.
