Well we didn't see that coming.
Netflix, ITV, Sky and foreign broadcasters had all looked to court the car-bothering antics of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, but an unlikely victor has made off with their skills: Amazon Prime will be the host of ex-Top Gear stars' new car show.
The BBC has word that its former stars have signed a three series deal with the online service, with the first series to arrive worldwide next year.
"Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen," said Amazon Prime Video EU vice president Jay Marine.
"We can't wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016."
There's no word on the show's title, but it could well go head to head with the BBC's rebooted Top Gear with Chris Evans and this potential new co-host.
