Penguins! Tigers! Other ones!

Here's our first look at David Attenborough's new series 'Dynasties'

Good news, everyone: a new David Attenborough show. Another, new, fresh, exciting Attenborough show - it’s what we all live for, isn’t it? This one’s called Dynasties, and it’ll focus on a different animal each episode, following them across four years. The series will track emperor penguins in Antarctica, chimpanzees on the edge of the Sahara in West Africa, lions on Kenya’s Masai Mara, painted wolves on the floodplains of the Zambezi river in Zimbabwe and tigers in the jungles of Bandhavgarh, India.

And here’s your first look, animal fans:

Oooh yeah, baby, that’s some hot animal-on-animal action, right there *tugs at collar*.

According to Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content:

“The wonderful David Attenborough will inspire audiences once again when he brings the natural world to life on BBC One with Dynasties.

“Four years in the making, capturing extraordinary family dynamics and behaviour, I hope these intimate animal dramas will connect with audiences just as Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II did.”

Executive producer Mike Gunton adds:

“After making Planet Earth II, it’s very exciting to now have the chance to show another, and I think even more intense and gripping, perspective on the lives of our planet’s most impressive yet vulnerable creatures.”

More intense and gripping than Planet Earth II? That’s ridiculous levels of tense and grip, right there - it was hard to complete that series without running out of the living room screaming. This might be too much.

Either way, the intimate series will supposedly be styled more like a drama, following the animals’ politics, battles, alliances and family feuds, thus marking a departure from Attenborough’s usual style. It has no concrete air date as of yet, but that’s no reason not to get all excited and start painting your face as a tiger and growling at anyone that comes to the front door. Do that now. Absolutely do that.
