Dark Knight Rises trailer

It's here. It's the trailer event of the year. And thank God, it appears to be absolutely brilliant.

The second teaser for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, the most anticipated superhero film of all time, has landed with liberally scattered explosions, tanks, rioting, a spot of subsidence and a dirty great Ron Atkinson-style sheepskin.

With added resonance provided by its nods to social uprising (the Occupy protests in particular), Nolan's final film in his Batman trilogy looks impossibly exciting.

Tom Hardy's Bane, with that startling metal maw, looks suitably psychotic, and those slightly worried about the inclusion of Catwoman, a role which has never worked particularly well in the Batman flicks, should be comforted by a suitably sinister turn from Anne Hathaway.

Enough blather... watch it.

The Dark Knight Rises will be in cinemas July 20th
