Dad asks for birthday messages for bullied son, is overwhelmed with heartwarming celebrity responses

Frankly, world, this is the kind of story that we all need right now.

It was a simple tweet, from a dad, whose son was being bullied at school – a scenario that surely every parent dreads – asking for some support.

Chris Hope-Smith, from Leeds, whose son Ollie has his 9th birthday coming up on 5 July, tweeted:

Before long, the message had gone viral, with a galaxy of stars piling in to wish Ollie a happy birthday, including a grime superstar, an Olympian, a Hollywood actor – and even an astronaut:

Ollie’s mum made a rare venture onto Twitter to express her gratitude:
