Cool Animated History Of The Van

As we await the return of the canine-eared automobile in the forthcoming sequel to Dumb & Dumber, here’s further evidence that pop culture owes a lot to the humble van.

Created by those normally serious Germans at Mercedes Benz, this animation is anything but corporate-y. From that used by a certain team of California-based commandos jailed for a crime they didn't commit, to that used by a hippy and a talking mutt to go chasing villains with a penchant for fancy dress, a whole host of vehicles make the cut.

There are other vans, too. Some used to sell ice creams, some to deliver packages and others, depending how you interpret a rocking van, showcasing another sort of package being delivered...

If it wasn't the creepiest purchase a non-tradesman or non-ice cream seller could make, we’d buy a van tomorrow.
