Unlocking the intricate and labyrithian recesses of a highly-classified defence system looked like the most glamorous, exciting and risk-taking thing you could do - and the only tools you needed were a sharp brain and fast fingers to bash away at the keyboard like a pro while decoding lines of seemingly impenetrable text with ease.
