SpongeBob SquarePants, or a man pretending to be as Spongebob Squarepants (sources suggest it's more likely the latter) was detained by police outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
The man was questioned but not arrested in what a LAPD describe as a "brief incident with two females." No other details were available.
A photo of the dramatic scene on Hollywood Boulevard was taken by Steve Boelhouwer who kindly allowed us to bring it to you.
The LA Times describe the incident as "the latest run-in between characters who pose for pictures with tourists and then aggressively demand money. City rules allow people to tip characters, but prohibit them from demanding payment."
All this just a day after Gumby (or someone dressed as him) turned himself in after making a pig's ear of a robbery.
