Based on the book of the same name by The Blindside and Moneyball author Michael Lewis, The Big Short tells the tale of the real life investors who placed some rather big bets themselves.
In the wake of 2007's financial crisis, as the world stood still and bankers walked from their ivory towers clutching cardboard boxes, this group of plucky investors made millions by betting against it, and whatever your view on banking regulations, it’s a hell of a story.
What's more, the lead cast is made up by Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt (with a beard). It's possibly one of the strongest groupings of lead male actors we've seen in a film since Three Men and a Baby.
Quite how director Adam McKay managed to fit all these star names into one frame is beyond us - CGI perhaps? - but as you can see in the trailer below, it’s somehow been achieved.
